Practice Areas

* Civil Litigation:
For over 50 years, our Civil Litigation department has successfully represented corporations and insurance carriers in all aspects of complex tort and insurance contract litigation. We aggressively defend personal injury, premises liability, products liability and bad faith claims on behalf of our clients. Our Civil Litigation department is the backbone of our firm's tradition of advocacy and our active case list keeps our lawyers at the forefront of innovative trial practice.

* Workers Compensation & Employment Law:
We defend employers against claims by workers and employees claiming injuries, discrimination, and violations of federal and state statutory protections. Including companies facing Stop Work Orders, we know how to work with employers to produce the right result when they are faced with worker's compensation and employee discrimination actions. Our long experience in these fields gives us the expertise to counsel our clients facing pending actions, and in implementing proactive employment policies. The breadth and depth of our current work defending employers allows us to set the standard of advocacy in this field.

* Commercial Litigation:
We excel in the field of complex commercial litigation. This field includes commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes, commercial collections, the negotiation and preparation of contracts, shareholder disputes, and injunctive relief and specific performance proceedings. It also includes trademark, domain name and intellectual property disputes, as well as insurance coverage disputes. We enforce and defend the rights and policies of our corporate, business and shareholder clients with the goal of producing economically sensible, value-driven results.

* Longshore & Admiralty:
Our firm represents shippers, ocean carriers, stevedoring firms, port facilities, shipowners, insurers, freight forwarders, shipbuilders, dry dock companies, and intermodal firms in a variety of maritime-related disputes. Our firm has handled longshore claims, Defense Base Act claims, Jones Act claims, 905(b) claims, and maritime damage claims across the country and throughout the world. Wherever the claim occurs, whether the suit is for worker injury, cargo loss or damage, or liability to third-parties, we have the expertise honed from long experience in this field to secure the right result.

*Transportation:
Cargo claims. Coverage disputes. We represent some of America's leading motor carriers, carrier insurers, and logisticians. The right handling of transportation disputes can mean the difference between an effective risk management policy and a disastrous one where litigation expenses exceed the value of a claim portfolio. Our litigation practice in the transportation and admiralty fields advances our clients' cases to final resolutions quickly, with the efficient approach that these claims demand.
