John joined Fisher, Tousey, Leas & Ball in 1979 after five years as a trial attorney with the Internal Revenue Service. John has a diverse tax practice, and represents individuals and businesses on a variety of legal matters. His focus is on closely held businesses, and represents a number of corporations and limited liability companies as outside general counsel. He has helped many successful business owners with succession planning. Representing clients in buying or selling a business also accounts for a significant part of his practice. Recently, John was selected as a Florida “Super Lawyer.†In addition to his corporate and business work, his practice also includes estate planning and tax planning for high net worth individuals.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Formation of business entities and selection of business entities, including the acquisition of businesses. Liquidation and dissolution of businesses, including the sale of businesses. Structuring mergers and other forms of tax-free consolidations. Assist owners with business succession planning as part of their overall estate planning, in order to insure a successful business will be retained within the family unit for the next generation, and beyond. Provide successful businesses with general legal advice and representation, including contract, financing, real estate, and compliance issues. Estate and tax planning for high net worth individuals, including the adoption and funding of trusts of all types.
